Development Coordinator/Proposal Writer
This professional must have the strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be professional and composed under pressure, and be able to develop positive rapport with The Hodge Group professionals ranging from senior counsel to managing partner.
Responsibilities include the following:
Act as the central point for the proposal development process - This includes evaluating the potential client's requirements (RFP's), managing a timely process under deadline, writing executive summaries and non-technical content, working with team members to develop the written approach to the work, and transforming and consolidating team member input into clear and effective responses. Candidate should be able to assume this role for extremely complex proposals.
Assist proposal team in developing the strategy - This includes acting in a strategic/"sales" role-from pre-proposal to oral presentation stages-to identify benefits to the intended client, identify win themes that differentiate The Hodge Group from our competition, create messages that will be compelling to the expected audience, and brainstorm solutions to the project's challenges.
Collaborate with the proposal development team - This include team members (of various specialties and at various levels of seniority) to develop responses to the potential client's needs, researching and gathering information, and collaborating with the graphic design team to develop visual themes.
Write persuasively - This involves clarity, strategic direction, and the compelling presentation. Must be able to consider information obtained from client meetings, research profiles, and knowledge of The Hodge Groups organizational offerings
Develop, print multimedia presentation materials.
Limited administrative support:
Provide administrative support to internal and external team. Duties include general clerical, receptionist and project-based work. Project a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction.
High paced learning environment for candidate seeking a career in philanthropy.
Limited travel - Approximately 20-25% per year.
Qualifications and requirements include the following:
Education, training, and background
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, humanities, not-for-profits or related disciplines
- 2-4 years of not-for-profit experience (proposal/grant writing experience a plus)
- Excellent communicator, writer, editor, leader, and strategist
- Experience in public speaking or delivering oral presentations
- Excellent relevant writing samples
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required
People and project management
- A team player with an outstanding ability to work with people at all levels, including senior executives
- Ability to work with grace and efficiency in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
- Team-oriented with a proven ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving ability
- Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
- Ability to analyze information and make sound observations and recommendations quickly
