Each year, the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is pleased to recognize those individuals and companies in our community who a have made an indelible impact on the nonprofit sector and the philanthropic community. Please join us on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 for the annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration Luncheon at the Renaissance Hotel, as we acknowledge this year's exemplary award recipients:

Outstanding Philanthropist: Richard J. Solove, nominated by the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute
Since his days as an undergraduate at The Ohio State University, Richard J. "Dick" Solove has a passion for The Ohio State University. He has been a cornerstone for the university, most notably with his $20 million gifts for genetics research. His personal generosity and commitment to securing additional funding has ensured that The James would be one of the best cancer research and treatment centers in the country.

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: Charlette Gallagher-Allred, PhD, nominated by OhioHealth
Charlette Allred has shaped OhioHealth's hospice program through her gifts, her advice, and her leadership. Since 1979, she has been instrumental, a stable and guiding force in all areas of fund-raising and organizational development. In addition to her own personal generosity, her talents include inspiring the generosity of others, and her passion and enthusiasm for hospice care are unmatched.

Outstanding Large Corporation: Nationwide, nominated by Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation
Over the past ten years, Nationwide Foundation has awarded more than $233 million of more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations that work to meet the crucial needs in communities with large Nationwide employee populations In June 2006, Nationwide awarded its largest single contribution, of $50 million, to Children's Hospital, the largest charitable contribution in central Ohio history.

Outstanding Small Corporation: HLS MedFreight, nominated by Concord Counseling
Stewardship is an intentional part of the corporate culture of HLS MedFreight, as well as promoting the well-being of the local community. In addition to donating its own dollars, the company encourages its employees to get involved on their own time...and on company time.

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraising Group: McDonald’s Owners/Operators of Central Ohio, nominated by Ronald McDonald House Charities
The emotional, financial, and physical giving provided by the central Ohio McDonald's co-op has helped turn Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio into a best practice model for other cities. For more than 28 years, their contributions and volunteer efforts have brought much more than shelter to the lives of families in crisis.

Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy: Dante Landolfi & Molly O’Connor, nominated by the Columbus Blue Jackets
Dante and Molly, two students at Barrington Elementary School in Upper Arlington, turned their respective losses of loved ones into a triumph of the spirit of philanthropy. Inspired by Race for the Cure, they launched "Beat Michigan! Beat Cancer!" and raised more than $22,000 for ovarian and breast cancer research from 900 race participants.

Judges’ Award: Chad Jester & Tom Katzenmeyer, nominated by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank
Foe more than 2 years, Tom Katzenmeyer and Chad Jester joined forces to lead the Mid-Ohio Foodbank's Campaign to Sustain and dedicated themselves with energy, offered their considerable knowledge and expertise, and inspired other corporate community members to give, and give generosity. Their extraordinary work resulted in the most ambitious and successful fund-raising campaign in the history of the Foodbank.

Leave A Legacy Award: Dr. Jerome J. & Mrs. Margaret A. Cunningham, nominated by the Central Ohio Planned Giving Council
The Central Ohio Chapter of AFP is pleased to include COPG in the National Philanthropy Day celebrations with the presentation of the Leave a Legacy Award. Dr and Mrs. Jerome J. Cunningham are generous donors and dedicated volunteers, committed to improving our central Ohio. They established a trust fund at The Columbus Foundation to address future issues and needs that arise in the community.

Outstanding Fundraising Professional: Pamela H. Glasgow
Recognized for her chapter leadership, her volunteer commitment, and her professional accomplishments, the Central Ohio AFP Chapter is please to announce that Pam Glasgow has been awarded our chapter's highest professional honor. Pam has a track record of impressive accomplishments through her work at OhioHealth, Big Brothers Big Sisters,and the Ohio College of Nursing, as well as her achievements as a volunteer on the board of the Columbus Montessori Education Center. A former chapter board president, Pam is a long-standing member of AFP.
