Position Summary  – DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY

The Director of Philanthropy is integral to the fulfillment of our mission to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

The Director of Philanthropy works in partnership with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Community Outreach Director to meet annual fundraising goals.  The position is responsible for creating and implementing a diversified fundraising plan that supports non-event revenue growth and financial sustainability.  This newly created position calls for a development professional experienced in planning and budgeting, major gifts development and solicitation, planned giving promotion and cultivation, annual campaigns, workplace giving, donor relations, and foundation stewardship.  Successful applicants will excel at working independently in a small shop and enjoy developing new strategies and systems from the ground up.  This is a roll-up-your sleeves position with responsibility for all aspects of fundraising business planning, donor research, materials preparation, solicitation, and on-going stewardship.  The chapter Director of Philanthropy will embrace a relationship-focused approach that establishes meaningful donor contacts and lasting donor loyalty.

Requirements (Abbreviated) Include:

A minimum of 10 years fundraising experience and proven track record in soliciting and closing gifts, relationship management and meeting fundraising goals in a non-profit environment.
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from four-year College or University.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience working in a CRM (customer relationship management) database, entering donor information & notes, running reports and ability to analyze donor data and develop work plan around that information.
