Practical Stewardship Advice for Everyday Fundraisers

Successful stewardship is proven to increase gift frequency and amounts. However, staff often devote the least amount of their time to stewardship. Stewardship starts with the “thank you” and can be implemented by simple and effective steps, leading to the next gift and greater donor loyalty. How can you improve your thank you letters, develop a stewardship calendar, and intentionally plan your stewardship moves? This session will help fundraisers at all levels learn to improve their stewardship.

The Day the Donors Quit: Stewardship Lessons from Crayons

Donors are feeling overworked, unappreciated, and underutilized. With all that goes on in our nonprofits, stewardship sometimes gets overlooked. Consequently, donor retention rates show only 19% of first–time donors stick around to give again the second year. We lose 103 donors for every 100 we gain. There is a solution: stewardship. Learn some of the common mistakes to avoid with donors in order to retain them and maximize their impact.
