About Kim Klein
Kim Klein is an internationally known speaker and author, well known for her ability to deliver information in a practical and humorous way. For more than 35 years, she has worked in all aspects of fundraising: as staff, as a volunteer and as a board member. Kim is the author of five books including Reliable Fundraising in Unreliable Times, which won the McAdam Book Award in 2010. Her classic text, Fundraising for Social Change, now in its sixth edition, is widely used in the field and in university programs. She has provided training and consultation in all 50 United States, five Canadian provinces, and 21 other countries. She is a lecturer at the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley and she has taught in graduate programs in the USA and Canada. She serves on the board of the California Association of Nonprofits and lives in Berkeley, CA.

“Secrets of Attracting and Retaining Fundraising Talent”
As a follow-up to “Underdeveloped, A National Study of the Challenges Facing Nonprofit Fundraising,” Kim Klein will provide a sneak preview of the findings from a recent project by the Haas, Jr. Fund. The foundation looked at organizations that are able, year in and year out, to excel in their mission-driven work while keeping costs under control. A large aspect of the report is what keeps fundraisers in their jobs. Surprise: it’s not about the money. What are the structures you can put in place? What are some things you can try? Come learn and grow, and contribute your own thoughts. |
“What’s New, What’s Hot; What’s Over and What’s Not” After 35 years of experience helping thousands of organizations solve fundraising problems, Kim Klein shares what she’s learning by looking at “What’s working and how can we do more of it.” She will give a sneak preview of findings from a study of a dozen “bright spots” social change organizations with strong fundraising results, commissioned by the Haas, Jr. Fund, and share how she’s rethinking some of her approach to fundraising advice. She will also ask you to examine whether what’s worked in the past is still working and how you might think about changing. You will learn, you will laugh, and you will not feel alone. |
