A panel of new and seasoned fundraising professionals will share how they invested in their own professional development through AFP and beyond to improve their performance, understanding of fundraising, philanthropy, and the local community.

Panelists will provide tips and examples they used to build experience, advance to land their first, next, or dream job- and the importance of networking and engagement.

Attendees will learn skills to put themselves out there, network, and get involved to plan the future.  It’s a New Year and a New You. Join the conversation to invest in yourself on the path to success, regardless of your years of experience.

“Metrics & Major Gifts: Your Roadmap to Success”

Plan the work and work the plan.  From small shops to large, all development professionals need a plan to forecast fundraising goals.  For many, metrics provide the best measurement of success.  In response to the overwhelming interests in major gifts by AFP Central Ohio members, Cynthia Anderson will introduce major gift metrics as a roadmap to success.

Attendees will leave with an understanding of the history of metrics, measuring success, and using metrics to manage goals.

Cynthia Anderson has been a member of Central Ohio AFP for nearly 20 years.  She has served as Chapter President, Treasurer, Education Chair and National Delegate.  She was the 2012 AFP Central Ohio Outstanding Fundraising Professional and presented to the Central Ohio chapter once before on the importance of time management in fundraising.  She received her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and her MBA from Marylhurts University.  She is a CFRE and this Fall she will be pursuing her Certification as a Specialist in Planned Giving.

Most recently Cynthia served as the Assistant Vice President for Major Gifts at BGSU.  Before going to BG Cynthia was the Chief Development Officer at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.  She has also served in a fundraising capacity for the James Cancer Hospital, Girl Scouts, On My Own, Inc. and Doctors Hospital.
