“Social Enterprise for Self-Sustainsbility”

Funders everywhere are asking questions about the sustainability unlike ever before. As a fundraising professional, it has become imperative that you are able to communicate how your organization is becoming more self-sustainable. In this pre-lunch program, you will learn how several panelists are harnessing the concept of “social enterprise” to help their organizations make a difference and make money at the same time. This primer is designed to introduce AFP members to the concept of and explore the issue of social enterprise, which can be funded using social impact investing.

* Concepts reviewed in the pre-session will be used as a knowledge base for the luncheon presentation, thus highly encouraged if social enterprise is an unfamiliar topic.

“Social Impact Investing:

The What and Why Every Fundraiser Should Know”

If you aren’t familiar with the term “social impact investing”, you are missing out on a multi-billion funding opportunity. Philanthropy as we know it is changing. Foundations, philanthropists and other donors are becoming more sophisticated and are reconsidering how they invest in social causes. At this lunch program, Patrick Westerlund from the Wells Foundation will introduce the field of impact investing and attendees will learn why it is a game changer for all fundraising professionals. Even if you are not currently in a position to implement Social Impact Investing, anyone working with donors should be aware and learn about this innovative approach.  There is a reason last summer’s cover story for Advancing Philanthropy, AFP’s national publication, focused entirely on social impact investing!
