Category: General Donors, Boards, and the Power Dynamic

March 12, 2024

Register

Development professionals navigate power dynamics on a regular basis. Whether the power is real or perceived, it may come from a variety of sources – a donor or potential donor, a chief executive or board chair, a legacy volunteer or an elected official, an executive committee or a major corporation, and more. Development professionals need data and knowledge to manage the dynamic, mitigate the damage, and motivate themselves and their teams through the scenario. We will discuss power dynamics, explore the dependency quotient, and review current research on the topic.

Participants will be able to:
1. Describe the various power scenarios that exist in nonprofit organizations.
2. Analyze the dependency quotient and other key data points to recognize power dynamics.
3. Discuss relevant research to illustrate harmful behaviors.
4. Employ strategies to manage and mitigate power scenarios in their organizations.

Due to space limitations, registration is limited to first come, first served. Pre-registration required and the registration deadline is Friday, March 8th at noon.

The session is approved for 1.25 CFRE credits.

Lunch will be provided!

The first 30 minutes are dedicated to networking. The session will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m.
