AFP Mentorship Program Accepting Applications for 2015

Are you looking to enhance or to validate your knowledge about fundraising? Is there a particular skill you’d like to strengthen? Or, are you a seasoned fundraising professional who would like to share your expertise with those who are new to the profession? Then, this program is for you!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Terry Schavone Mentoring Program. They can be found under the Education tab on the home page at http://64.131.64.224/~ohioafp/mentorship-program/

This voluntary program matches seasoned professionals with early-career professionals—with one to five years of employment as a fundraiser for a nonprofit organization. Mid-career professionals may apply for a mentor, too. Matching will occur based on an available mentor whose skills and experience align with the mentee’s application.

Past program participants may apply again for another mentor or to be a mentor.

The program will kickoff in January. Participants will gather to meet each other and to learn about the parameters of the program. Each pairing will then determine their goals for the year and a regular schedule to meet. It is recommended that each pair meet at least eight times throughout the year. From time to time, the chair of the program will touch base with the program participants to learn how things are going and to address any concerns.

The program is designed to strengthen fundraising skills, not to look for other employment opportunities.

Applications are due no later than December 1, 2014. Participants will be notified of their pairings by the end of December.
