OBJECTIVE:

The Director of Corporate Giving is responsible for developing and implementing the fundraising strategy for corporate, foundation, and other organizational giving to COSI. This position will work to expand COSI’s existing donor base, develop and enhance relationships with organizational funders, deliver exceptional customer service, and generate new ideas and strategies to maintain and enhance a dynamic, compelling fundraising program. The Director of Corporate Giving will maintain an active portfolio of donors and prospects, and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to generate and sustain philanthropic support for COSI.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall leadership for COSI’s corporate giving program. Responsible for developing the fundraising strategy and giving opportunities for continued growth of revenue and participation from corporate and foundation prospects and donors. Develop creative and appealing engagement, recognition, and activation opportunities for donor companies that appeal to corporate giving contacts, leadership, PR and marketing teams, and volunteers.
  • Solicit support from a portfolio of 80-100 businesses and corporations in order to achieve an assigned annual contributed revenue goal. Identify and qualify prospects, thoughtfully cultivate managed relationships, undertake strategic solicitations and/or prepare customized proposals, and provide excellent stewardship to assigned donors. Provide relationship coordination and support as needed for Philanthropy leadership, the COSI Executive Leadership Team, and Board development activity.
  • Supervise Philanthropy Team Members engaged in advancing the corporate giving program at COSI, currently the Senior Manager of Corporate Giving and the Grants Manager. Oversee the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, prospecting, and project work of direct reports, including monitoring financial accountabilities and evaluating performance. Oversee grant and report deadlines, review and provide feedback on proposals and associated budgets, and ensure appropriate internal stakeholder review prior to submission. Provide coaching and support to direct reports in the area of relationship building, leveraging COSI experiences, and engaging internal stakeholders with the goal of successful fund development.
  • Develop a rich understanding of COSI’s mission, vision, strategic plan, and portfolio of giving opportunities including giving programs, priority programs and initiatives, recognition levels, and benefits to ensure consistency among COSI’s donor programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Diversity and Equity to identify opportunities to increase the diversity of COSI’s donor base and to further the organization’s commitment to expand COSI’s brand to engage more diverse audiences.
  • Maintain a high standard for recording moves management in Raiser’s Edge and coordinating with other solicitors/supporting relationships.
  • Track and report progress on accountabilities and established financial goals.
  • Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as appropriate.
  • Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members and Volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and volunteer Team Members and Guests.
  • In accordance with COSI’s Guest Services Strategy and as opportunities present themselves, provide excellence in Guest Services by assuring Guest safety, using courtesy to drive each Guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient.

  • Serve as staff support and primary point of contact for the COSI Community Board, a leadership-level volunteer board comprised of approximately 50 community leaders. Lead agenda planning for board meetings, working cross-organizationally to authentically inform, engage, and seek input from Community Board Members. Oversee recruitment and new member orientation. Ensure participation in established Community Board giving program, and seek additional support from Community Board members and their networks as opportunities arise.
  • Serve as staff liaison for the COSI Endowment Committee, actively engaging volunteer leaders in cultivating planned giving prospects and stewarding donor relationships on behalf of COSI. Advance planned giving activities to establish COSI’s Pendulum Society and develop strategy to grow and sustain the program.

Associate Director of Alumni & Volunteer Engagement

The University’s Division of Advancement invites applications for an Associate Director of Alumni and Volunteer Engagement. The Associate Director will develop a comprehensive and strategic approach to identify, cultivate, recruit, and steward our alumni as partners, advocates, and supporters.

This position requires a strong commitment to relationship cultivation, volunteer management and motivation, and the ability to analyze and use data to inform strategies and present opportunities that will support University goals and financial priorities while meeting the needs of alumni volunteers. The position reports to the Director of Alumni Engagement and offers a flexible work environment, with hybrid/remote consideration.

Responsibilities:

Alumni Engagement & Program Development

  • Manages a portfolio of targeted alumni with the purpose of identifying opportunities for increased engagement, volunteerism, and support of Ohio Wesleyan.
  • Creates a plan for engagement and participation of alumni in targeted regions that have high density of alumni, targeted career industries, and/or affinity groups with specific goals for support of career programming, admission initiatives, social events, and giving.
  •  Partners with the Director of Career Development to manage the OWU Alumni Partner program and other alumni career programming that creates opportunities for alumni to make connections with each other and with students.
  • Develops a comprehensive plan in partnership with other campus partners, to increase outreach and connection of international/global alumni with Ohio Wesleyan, each other, and current students.

Volunteer Stewardship & Management

  • Responsible for cultivating, training, and retaining a network of volunteers for various positions and leadership committees, as well as developing effective collateral materials to foster increased volunteer interaction and participation.
  • Executes a volunteer stewardship and gratitude program that supports appreciation and value of service and ensures volunteer opportunities are relevant to their interests and rewarding for their engagement.
  • Develops intentional engagement plans for key volunteers/groups. Works with Advancement division colleagues to ensure volunteers are being managed strategically.

Data Analytics and Strategy

  •  Collects and analyzes engagement data to uncover potential future volunteers, inform strategies and initiatives for alumni engagement and assess effectiveness of programming.
  • Ensures effective and accurate tracking of volunteer records.
  • Serves as team lead with data integration with third party systems that supports and facilitates alumni engagement work.
  • Manages current engagement reports and develops future reports that track department’s efforts to ensure there is a return on engagement of programs and initiatives.

Secondary Functions (Other Duties):

  • Familiarity with Blackbaud Raisers’ Edge preferred and/or experience working directly with other CRM or fundraising software. Experience with running queries and reports using team’s advancement software system.
  • Helps maintain department’s volunteer management system and explore new and innovative ways to track volunteer engagement.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of events, recognition and award celebrations
  • Manages Alumni Engagement committee of the Alumni Board of Directors
  • Builds and maintains positive, productive relationships with University partners for whom alumni volunteers will be an important resource.

Qualifications

Director of Development, Wexner Medical Center

The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center seeks a collaborative, mission-driven fundraiser to serve as a major gift officer for a variety of healthcare initiatives such as internal medicine and diabetes. The Director of Development will understand the mission, needs and value proposition of the university hospital and build relationships with prospective donors to increase philanthropic support. Donors such as grateful patients/families, friends, corporations, and/or alumni will be identified by listening for opportunities to align their interests and passions with opportunities to propel the work of our physician scientists forward.

The aim of the role is to actively manage a portfolio of prospective donors to be asked for gifts of $100,000 and above. Preparation for the “ask” will include creative and strategic utilization of resources to determine the prospective donor’s capacity for giving, build their interest, raise their sights, sustain their engagement, and obtain a gift. Success in the position will be guided by annual metrics such as number of monthly meetings, number of gift commitments, and dollars raised. Specific metrics are determined with experience level, unit size, prospect portfolio, and past performance in mind. Central resources such as a robust donor database, and reporting and analytics tools exist to help the role achieve goals and manage an allocated budget.

The Director reports to the Senior Director of Development and operates with a high degree of independence to make decisions, solve problems, negotiate, and adapt to shifting priorities. Expectations include stellar communications and interactions with constituents, genuine collaboration with colleagues across Advancement and the university and Wexner Medical Center, diplomacy, and discretion. Strong partnerships with physician leadership are vital. This role may require some travel and occasional evening and weekend work.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
At least three years of professional fundraising experience or professional transferable experience (i.e., managing relationships with required measurable output, making calls, conducting face-to-face appointments, creating, and presenting proposals, and other fundamental elements of client relationship or sales-related activities)
Preferred Qualifications

At least three years of professional fundraising experience raising the highest level of philanthropic gifts at an organization (preferably five or six figures and above)
At least three years of professional fundraising experience in higher education or a hospital/health care environment
Experience in grateful patient healthcare fundraising
Experience working in other advancement departments such as donor relations and stewardship, donor communications and/or alumni relations

Due to the generosity of 18,000+ donors, Kenyon recently concluded the first phase of the record-breaking Our Path Forward Campaign, surpassing the $300M goal five months ahead of schedule. Job Responsibilities

Planned Giving Office

The Planned Giving Office works with alumni and friends of the College to encourage philanthropy via estates, life income gifts, or gifts of complex assets. In support of these endeavors, the Coordinator will:

  • Partner in estate administration processes. Often this means corresponding with attorneys, financial advisors, trustees, and executors to collect estate gifts designated to Kenyon.
  • Work with partners across campus, particularly in the Office of Finance and the Office of the President, to ensure fundraising regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with stewarding members of our legacy giving society in conjunction with the DPG, major gift officers, and colleagues in Donor Relations.
  • Ensure maximum impact of marketing materials by updating alumni records, requesting distribution lists, and sharing requested information with prospective donors.
  • Utilize superior organizational skills to maintain donor records, complete forms, and prompt others for information when required.

50th Reunion Program

The 50th Reunion is a hallmark event at Kenyon. Working alongside the Director of 50th Reunion Programs, the Coordinator will:

  • Expertly navigate multiple databases and software platforms to create distribution lists, analyze outputs, and ensure coordination of information with other departments in the Advancement division.
  • Provide excellent project management skills in support of communication and marketing efforts.
  • Assist with event management, particularly virtual or in person class committee meetings.
  • Interact with alumni volunteers to share information about the 50th Reunion Program and support their efforts on behalf of the College.
  • Manage day-to-day tasks related to scheduling, answering phones, and managing email.

Associate Vice President for Development 

In addition to management of the entire Development team,the AVP serves as a principal point of contact for the Gund Gallery and Kenyon Review partner organizations. The AVP also supports the work of the Vice President for Advancement and the Campaign Leadership Committee. At the direction of the AVP, the Coordinator will:

  • Facilitate relationship building and maintenance among key individuals and groups, ensuring cross departmental and divisional collaboration and communication that enhances the objectives and goals of the Advancement Division.
  • Manage all aspects of key projects as determined by the AVP for Development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with relevant experience.
  • Two or more years working in a not-for-profit or development/fundraising setting or professional office environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills; ability to establish and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in entering and reviewing data.
  • Computer literacy with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, GoogleMeet) and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Manual and physical ability to work for sustained periods on a computer both in-office and, on location for events.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasionally on evenings and weekends.
  • Desire to take initiative and work with minimal supervision is essential.
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential information and demonstrated willingness to uphold high ethical standards.
  • Current valid driver’s license and insurable under Kenyon’s liability policy.

Development Director

The ACLU of Ohio seeks a Development Director – a full-time member of the Ohio affiliate’s executive leadership team. The Development Director is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing fundraising programs and leading the progression and expansion of the organization’s fundraising strategies. The Development Director works closely with the ACLU of Ohio board and staff and oversees and evaluates the development team, including two regional development officers and a development data strategist. Donor Outreach Coordinator

Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement & Outreach

The University’s Division of Advancement invites applications for an Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement & Outreach. This position will work within a collaborative office environment developing and implementing programs, communication strategies, volunteer engagement and initiatives designed to instill a sense of lifelong engagement and building a community of belonging with the university and within various constituent groups. This position reports to the Director of Alumni Engagement.

Responsibilities:

Young Alumni Engagement & Events

  • Responsible for creating, managing and executing an engagement plan for young alumni that encourages and fosters their life-long relationship with Ohio Wesleyan through events, volunteerism, and programs.
  • In partnership with annual giving team members, responsible for overseeing volunteer recruitment, reunion committees, management and motivation for the 5th, 10th & 15th reunion program to encourage alumni engagement and participation in the support of their class gift.

Alumni Diversity Programs and Engagement

  • Responsible for expanding the depth and scope of diversity, equity, and inclusive programming, events, volunteer opportunities, and engagement for our diverse alumni population.
  •  Manages, communicates, and builds community among newly established task force groups (black alumni task force, LGBTQIA+ group, first gen task force…)

Communications & Outreach

  • Oversees the alumni associations’ social media strategy and platforms in close collaboration with the University’s overall social media strategy, creating content, measuring engagement and driving participation. This position works closely with the University’s social media strategist and producer.
  • In collaboration with other University Advancement team members, this position is responsible for the designing, creative elements/implementation of alumni and friends newsletters, brochures, graphics and video creation for targeted communication pieces. (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and Spark)

Student to Alumni Programs

  • Serves as co-advisor of the student alumni association, OWUSAA. Oversees, guides and mentors OWUSAA members to ensure alignment with University Advancement goals
  • Works with campus partners to create and develop unique programming that brings students and alumni together and supports the building of student engagement, communities of belonging and giving earlier at OWU.
  • Manages the Graduating Class Trustee and Graduating Class Alumni Board Representation elections annually

Secondary Functions (Other Duties):

  • Maintain open communications with alumni; provide assistance when asked by alumni; provide follow-up with alumni when necessary.
  • Work within the fiscal budget when planning and implementing programs;
  • Perform other related duties for University/Alumni Relations as assigned.
  • Develop skills in the latest technology pertinent to your position. Familiarity with Raisers Edge, Blackbaud and BBNC preferred

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two (2) years of experience in volunteer management, alumni relations and/or development.
  • Social media experience and content development using a variety of platforms.
  • Experience in video editing, graphics, and images and experience using InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva
  • The ability for some travel and to work occasionally on weekends and evenings
  • An aptitude for collaborating with others and balancing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Serve as a positive member of the University Advancement staff contributing towards achievement of goals related to the University Advancement Division, alumni participation and the university community.
