Key Responsibilities

Donor Relations

Thoughtfully creates language for appeals and acknowledgements.
Manages the logistics of the relationship with donors who make and fulfill recurring pledges such that renewing a recurring gift is an available and welcome option.
Executes the mid-year, end of year, and annual acknowledgements of all donors and volunteers.

Database Administration

Associate is responsible for input, output, and function of the DonorPerfect database and all interfacing programs.
Reconcile DonorPerfect information to ensure accurate reporting through monthly scorecards and to outside vendors
Accurately records prospect/donor information, gifts, pledges, and contacts in the database; executes the processing of pledges and monthly giving.
Accurately creates various constituent lists, weblinks, and regular reports for the Development Team.
Conducts and maintains donor and grant research as needed.
Updates Mailchimp and other platforms with accurate donor information
Supports the CAO in completing 990 reporting annually.

Coordination of Program Needs

Works with school based staff to ensure that the various programs and opportunities for enrichment and afterschool are funded and staffed, annually and in a timely manner.
Establishes and maintains an organized system of tracking grants and accompanying records, donor files, budgets, and solicitations.
Oversees the grant calendar, ensuring deadlines for submission are met by the appropriate team member.
Writes grants and coordinates the Development Team to resource the above programs and opportunities.
Crafts compelling donor solicitation letters and articles for campaigns that will fund these programs.
Plans and executes an annual day of giving (#United4Scholars).

Events

Supports with annual valuation of sponsorship packages and its presentation to prospective and current sponsors in coordination with event goals.
Goes above and beyond to ensure that USN delivers the full package of benefits to committed sponsors.
Supports the ADD with annual fundraising events.

Communication and Marketing

Ensures Community Rewards are up to date and active.
Supports ADD with the creation and distribution of the Annual Report Card.

Administrative Support

Ensures materials needed for various development activities including tours are requested and prepared in advance.
Processes Development Team purchase requests, invoices and receipts.
Tracks fundraising costs and special events budgets; records in appropriate campaign areas in database.
Manages the creation and mailing of development-related solicitation communications .

Key Responsibilities

Donor and Volunteer Stewardship

Ensures acknowledgements for each specific fundraising, tour or volunteer activity are complete and recorded.
Executes individualized stewardship efforts for specific campaigns, including managements of the development committee call log.
Improves and executes the strategic and time-sensitive plan to acknowledge event sponsors.
Oversees grant reporting calendar; ensures reports are submitted completely and on time.
Documents and maintains a library of donor and volunteer supported activities for use in stewardship materials, including photos, videos, and testimonials.
Manages the annual Volunteer Appreciation event and other events celebrating donor-supported projects.
Supports the creation and publishing of stewardship and cultivation materials, including the USN newsletter, media kit, annual report card, annual impact report, holiday card, donor welcome packets, and tour packets.

School Support

Recruits and cultivates volunteers annually to support school-based efforts, including the management of the Classroom Champions program.
Supports school-based teams with annual updates of design materials.
Works with school-based staff to ensure that the various programs and opportunities for enrichment and afterschool are funded and staffed, annually and in a timely manner.
Assists the CAO in planning and executing professional photoshoots annually to update network marketing materials.

Board Stewardship

Ensures board materials, including board meeting packets, on-boarding packets, and board rosters are accurate, and disseminated early or on-time.
Coordinates board meetings, including the retreat: scheduling, location selection, technology, supplies, and food.
Stewards board members through recognition; monitors and record board service including committee service and term-out dates, prepares appropriate recognition for post-annual campaign board celebration or board retreat.
Keeps accurate and informative records of development related meetings and sends to relevant parties.

Constituent/Staff Relations

Executes the annual communication strategy: works with CAO and Development Team to ensure communication to/meetings with board, staff, and key stakeholders are always timely and relevant.
Manages USN social media platforms to reach various volunteer, donor, talent, and alumni goals.
Supports the timely update of the USN website.

Special Events & Communications Coordinator

Special Events & Communications Coordinator – Full-Time, Salaried Position

Duties: The Special Events and Communications Coordinator at URS is a leadership position that oversees and coordinates all Special Events; including budgets, sponsorships, and donations.  Additional key functions include creating the Agency annual report, brochures, and marketing collateral, managing communications and regular updates to the Agency website and social media accounts, and maintaining the donor database in Blackbaud RaisersEdge.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or closely related field is required with three – five years’ experience in Development or Special Event planning and execution.  Graphic design experience is a plus! Strong computer skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are a must.  Excellent oral, written, electronic and interpersonal communication skills are also required to be successful in this role. Familiarity with job related software to include Blackbaud would be preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule as the situation dictates is also a must (i.e., weekends, evenings, extended hours). Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and follow Agency insurance carrier requirements.

Development Director – Full Time, Salaried

Duties:  The Development Director at URS is a senior level position and oversees and coordinates all Development Department functions including executing comprehensive marketing plans for all programs, volunteer recruitment, special events, grant writing, planned giving, and other fundraising activities.  Through a mix of media relations and promotion, public relations strategies, donor relations and community involvement, increase the community’s awareness and understanding of United Rehabilitation Services, its programs and its Mission. The position is also the direct Supervisor of the Volunteer and Special Events staff.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in communications or closely related field is required with ten years’ experience in Development with strong skills in written and oral communications.  Prior supervisory or management experience is preferred and the ability to manage multiple priorities is a must.  Strong computer skills and familiarity with job related software is preferred.

Development Associate

This position works closely with the Senior Development Director in the identification, solicitation and development of community, local and regional fundraising sources by managing a regional portfolio of grant opportunities and maintenance of a donor stewardship plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Work with the Senior Development Director and other staff to identify and develop strategies around foundation funding for special projects or capital needs.

·       Research, identify and qualify local and regional grant resources.

·       Prepare and submit grants to coincide with funding source guidelines.

·       Track grants and prepare and submit any follow up documentation and grant reports.

·       Manage a grant calendar that includes current, pending and potential for new funding.

·       Build relationships with foundations to better understand how we can partner for additional funding.

·       Follow up on declined grants to improve future grant writing procedures.

·       Assist in the development of an annual master calendar; maintain/update calendar as needed.

·       Assist in prospecting and researching new donors, including individuals, foundation, and corporations. Maintain and create development reports and analysis.

·       Work with appropriate staff on development fundraising events and campaigns to ensure fluidity in campaign message, donor sponsorship and donations to reach fundraising goals.

·       Create and manage the donor stewardship plan. Prepare and coordinate donor acknowledgement correspondence.

·       Assist with the research and preparation of donor profiles.

·       Create and run reports from the donor database and provide database troubleshooting and training to staff.

·       Assist with tracking development related expenses for the purposes of annual budgeting and periodic financial reports.

·       Track funding from donors through company data base and work with national and regional development team members to ensure donor information accuracy.

·       Provide content and proofreading support for various regional publications and communications.

Director of Corporate Giving

The Director of Corporate Giving is charged with creating a robust corporate giving program and is responsible for researching, identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporations and business capable of making major gifts in support of the Ohio Living Foundation’s fundraising goals as we enter into our comprehensive Centennial Campaign in 2022.

 

Essential Activities and Tasks

Donor Development

·        Develops a portfolio of 75 prospective corporate and corporate foundation donors.

·        Develops a corporate fundraising strategy to help ensure fundraising expectations are met or exceeded.

·        Uses a “moves management” model to strategically cultivate relationships with prospective corporate donors in anticipation of soliciting major gifts.

·        Applies best practice development techniques to match the corporate prospect’s aspirations with those of Ohio Living.

·        Collaborates with Gift Planning Directors and Grants team on strategy and relationship management.

·        Actively engages non-development staff in prospect identification, developing relationship management strategies, the solicitation process, and donor stewardship.

 

Administration and Reporting

·        Works with Foundation staff to analyze the donor database and develop appropriate processes to effectively leverage data for corporate fundraising.

·        Develops collateral and materials to support corporate fundraising efforts.

·        Ensures compliance with Foundation’s corporate solicitation policy.

·        Provides regular briefings to senior leadership on corporate gift strategies, related timelines and action plans.

·        Assists in the management of current and prospective corporate donor records to ensure their accuracy and completeness for cultivation, solicitation and recognition activities.

 

Qualifications

Education

·        Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, fundraising, or a related field.

 

Experience

·        3 years experience in corporate fund development or sales required.

·        Documented track record of superior fundraising or sales results required.

·        Knowledge of philanthropic fundraising methods and ethics required.

SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Annual Giving serves as an integral part of the University’s continuing growth of the annual giving program. The Assistant Director will successfully plan and implement programs to increase annual support from alumni, parents, students, and friends of Otterbein University, with focus in the following areas: Student University Ambassador program, campus philanthropy, and appeal management.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manage the Student University Ambassador program; Student University Ambassadors conduct outreach to alumni and friends through phone, email, and SMS message to invite them to events, update contact information, ask for donations, and thank donors. Oversee daily activities of the program, serve as primary contact for vendors, inventory and order supplies, hire and train student staff, request and load data into software, schedule calling segments, monitor metrics, run and interpret reports, and analyze data to ensure achievement of goals.
The program currently runs for 8 weeks each semester, with 2 shifts (1:00-4:00pm) each week. Strengthen Campus Philanthropy through the Student Alumni Board, Senior Gift, and Faculty and Staff Giving programs. Co-advise the Student Alumni Board to develop and implement a student philanthropy program aimed at educating students about the importance of alumni giving to Otterbein.
Develop Senior Gift page including copy, graphics, and video; Recruit and manage 20-30 volunteer Senior Gift Ambassadors to solicit and steward gifts to Student Emergency Funds from graduating seniors.
Develop Faculty and Staff giving messages for annual giving appeals; Recruit and manage 2 Faculty and Staff Giving Co-Chairs to advocate for Faculty and Staff Giving.
Manage email and social media appeals for calendar (December) and fiscal (June) year end, including developing copy and graphics, requesting lists, collaborating with Marketing, and analyzing performance.
Participate in and staff department events such as Homecoming, Giving Challenges, and other events as needed, including nights and weekends.
Work collaboratively with other members of the Advancement division, providing assistance and input as needed, and communicating frequently to ensure activities do not conflict.
Research and stay up-to-date on trends in the field of higher education advancement, annual giving, and philanthropy; suggest new initiatives and/or improvements to improve Annual Giving outcomes.
As an engaged member of the Division of Institutional Advancement, participate in key programs and perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruits, hires, trains, and manages a pool of 10-12 callers known as University Student Ambassadors.

SUMMARY:  The Major Gift Officer – Development Officer is responsible for the development and execution of plans and strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of alumni, friends, faculty and staff, other individuals, and sometimes organizations to fund immediate and long-term goals of the university. Reporting to the Executive Director for Development, the Major Gift Officer is responsible for building a culture of philanthropy, including the establishment and implementation of all aspects of development strategy, procedures, and goals for relationships key to individual giving for his or her portfolio and to provide input into the overall development strategy.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

As a member of Institutional Advancement, assist in efforts to enhance the University’s image and visibility; communicate a strong and consistent message about the University to its constituencies; strengthen internal and external partnerships to benefit Otterbein and participate in specific campaign and giving initiatives.
Support the Vice President and Executive Director’s relationship with the Board of Trustees and key individual donors, provide suggestions for board and volunteer service at all levels at the University.
Actively manage a portfolio of 150-200 assigned individual gift prospects through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship cycles; and report on progress of donor-related activities and gift solicitations. Proactively seek opportunities personally to generate new proposals based on donor interests and institutional priorities. Solicit major gifts of $25,000 or more with an emphasis on gifts designated for endowment, capital or program needs. Write proposals for solicitation of own prospects and provide assistance in the preparation of other proposals.
Provide leadership for and management of giving opportunities for projects, which may include key reunion classes (e.g., 50th reunion), peer to peer volunteer management programs, special recognition societies (e.g., President Society), and leadership annual giving, and potentially others.
Travel to visit prospects, sometimes in tandem with the Executive Director or senior leadership; work proactively to bring prospects to campus for substantive visits and engagements.
Work closely with senior colleagues across the campus to set donor strategy with a focus on securing major gifts, currently set at $25,000. Lead principal and major gift strategy sessions on a regular basis; conduct prospect identification, qualification and rating process; assess major gift prospect pool, including prospect management tracking procedures.
Build effective working relationships with staff members in key campus offices such as Admissions/Enrollment, Academic Affairs, MBA Program, The Point – STEAM Innovation Center, Business office and Student Affairs. Engage representatives of those offices in development activities as appropriate. In conjunction with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the Executive Director, staff the president, the provost, deans, and other key institutional representatives in their contact with principal and major gift donors and potential donors, especially related to individual relationships.
Develop knowledge of and articulate university mission, academic programs, research, and fundraising objectives to prospects and donors; ensure that development team is knowledgeable about fundraising priorities, ways of giving, donor development process and management of volunteers where appropriate.
Collaborate in the preparation of funding proposals, talking points and scripts, assessments of potential support, briefings for senior leadership and trustees, and review of donor relations and stewardship reports, with a focus on assigned prospects; document all substantive prospect contacts in the database.
As an engaged member of the Division of Institutional Advancement, perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Development.

The Major Gift Officer will have at least three to five years or more of experience in the advancement field, preferable within higher education and with a proven ability to cultivate, solicit and steward gifts at the major and principal gift levels. The Major Gift Officer must have superlative interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization and handle multiple, complex fundraising activities simultaneously with an attention to detail. Additionally, the Major Gift Officer must have the professional credibility, intellectual depth, maturity, and collaborative skills to garner the trust and confidence of senior leadership, key volunteers and donors, and colleagues within Institutional Advancement and across the campus.

 

The Major Gift Officer will have a keen understanding of and ability to implement best practices in fundraising and the ability to motivate staff and colleagues; proven success fostering a team culture; substantial, direct experience with all phases of successful campaigns; a proven track record of personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from donors; and engaging, educating, and supporting the fundraising efforts of faculty, senior leaders, and volunteers.

 

Ability to raise donor sights, articulate aspirational goals and ideas, set priorities, and present philanthropic priorities
Deep understanding and appreciation for the philanthropic process and giving behaviors
Deep knowledge of planned giving, financial and estate planning concepts; while displaying a creative, professional, and entrepreneurial spirit; strong intellectual curiosity
Ability to understand and contribute to a comprehensive and campus-wide donor relations plan, especially related to individual giving, including donor acknowledgement and recognition, advising on complex and carefully orchestrated cultivation events and programs for the University’s major donors
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion, including the ability to foster inclusiveness and diversity of ideas in working with constituencies and colleagues

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: At least three to five years of progressively responsible experience in development or with not-for-profits with a proven ability to engage individuals and secure commitments; the ability to inspire individuals to provide significant financial support to an institution
Additional experience in volunteer management and comprehensive donor relations desired
Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid driver’s license.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must demonstrate professional level oral and written communications skills including grammar.

 

The ability to interact comfortably, tactfully, and effectively with varied internal and external constituencies is essential. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and writing skills including an exceptional command of grammatical rules and AP Style Guidelines, to include a demonstrated ability to make compelling presentations. Must be able to project voice and speak publicly in both small and large group settings.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be competent in general math and financial matters.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Knowledge of general office procedures.  Must be able to use general office equipment, work in a complex customer relations management database, and willing to learn and employ new technologies.

The Opportunity
Founded in 1984, the Ohio Wildlife Center (OWC), located in central Ohio, is the state’s largest, donation-supported wildlife center. Through conservation, education, and care, OWC fosters appreciation for native species, and teaches Ohioans to live with their wildlife neighbors respectfully and compassionately. The Executive Director (ED) will build the capacity of the Wildlife Hospital to treat more injured, sick, and orphaned animals and expand programs and activities at the Center that educate individuals about the inter-connected health of humans, animals, and the environment. Under the direction of the ED, Ohio Wildlife Center will become a model for wildlife rehabilitation in Ohio and wildlife centers throughout the country.

About the Position
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of Ohio Wildlife Center.

  • Guide short-term and long-term strategic planning for growth, increased philanthropic support, and financial stability.
  • Lead and develop teams to effectively provide education programs to the public at its Center and quality care at the Wildlife Hospital.
  • Ensure best practices are implemented that enable OWC to fulfill its mission.
  • Advocate for native wildlife and expand OWC’s influence throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management—Provide ongoing leadership to individuals and teams both inside and outside OWC. Lead continuous improvement in business operations.
  • Strategy and Culture—Develop strategies and plans for OWC’s growth. Create a culture of accountability and collaboration to achieve OWC’s mission.
  • Communications and Marketing—Ensure communication and collaboration across OWC’s functional teams. Serve as liaison with media. Build strong relationships with volunteers, donors; establish partnerships with other organizations and institutions.

  • Fiscal —Direct and oversee OWC financials; identify new resources to sustain and grow the organization; maximize earned revenues through existing and new programs.
  • Programs and Services—Oversee and lead the development of current programs and services; lead the innovation of programs and services that create OWC as a premier organization.
  • Volunteer Relations – Develop and maintain strong volunteer relations.
  • Fundraising—Build the philanthropic support of OWC. Maintain and steward current donor relationships and identify new opportunities for long-term philanthropy.

Major Gifts Manager

JOB TITLE: Major Gifts Manager          STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director, Major Gifts    DIRECT REPORTS: None

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals in order to generate major gifts to support the mission and programs of Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Build and cultivate relationships with a portfolio of major donors and prospects.
• Implement a moves management strategy to achieve continued and upgraded support.
• Maintain stewardship contacts with major donors providing personal and timely acknowledgments.
• Manage a donor cultivation program including events, phone calls, publications and materials creation, printing and mailing.
• Collaborate with and assist the Director of Major Gifts to implement strategies for major donor research, cultivation, engagement and stewardship.
• Committed to the organizational mission of ending hunger.
• Support all Foodbank fundraising efforts as directed.
• Works in collaboration with other Mid-Ohio Foodbank one team members and contributes additional work as necessary.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience is required.

Experience: At least four years of development experience and 2 year of major gift face-to-face solicitation with an emphasis and successful track record of gifts in excess of $5,000.  An understanding of donor cultivation and gift solicitation is required.  Candidates should possess strong leadership, excellent oral, written and presentation skills and be computer literate.

Skills/Competencies: Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Excellent presentation and closing skills. Ability to represent Mid-Ohio Foodbank with professionalism.
