The Opportunity
The AFP Central Ohio Chapter is offering its members (and one team member) a unique hands-on opportunity to create a game plan for your development department.  On August 15 the chapter will present the newest workshop designed by AFP International to get to the heart of a critical issue: retaining your donors.  The workshop is based on data collected via the Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP), an annual national survey of more than 13,000 nonprofit organizations about gains and losses of donors and gifts.

Building a sustainable development program means you need to acquire donors and KEEP them.  This workshop will provide you with a database management simulation and comparative benchmark statistics based on organizational budgets, location, staff size, sector, and geographic region.  By the end of the workshop, you will have a framework to develop and use metrics to analyze the overall performance of your development office.

Topics covered include:

  • Why organizations lose donors and money
  • How keeping donors increases fundraising success
  • Determining the effectiveness of fundraising efforts
  • Developing a successful donor retention plan

The Expectation
To take full advantage of this workshop, there is advance “homework.”  Those who register by the July 25 deadline will receive a data input form to produce a series of income, gift, and growth-in-giving reports in advance of the workshop.  Send us your completed data input form by August 6 you will receive a personalized analysis of key report statistics for your organization at the workshop.

Who Should Attend?

Fundraising professionals at the intermediate and advanced levels, who have responsibility for donor cultivation and stewardship, are encouraged to attend.  We highly recommend that you register in TEAMS of TWO.  The “team” must have at least one AFP member.  The other teammate should be someone who is very familiar with your data, but can be a non-member (see registration rates below).  Should you decide to attend individually, you must be an AFP member.

Space is limited to 40 participants
Note: this opportunity is designed only for those who will be active participants in the pre-workshop assignment and the hands-on exercises.

An absolute maximum of 20 teams or 40 people will be accepted.    Registration deadline is July 25 or earlier if the 40 seats sell out.  If you are interested in having more than two people attend, please register your 2-person team by the deadline then email us at [email protected] with your request.  If any of the 40 spaces are not reserved we will accommodate your additional participants.

Central Ohio AFP offers this program only once every other year.
