Function:  Manages Organization’s fundraising activities in accordance with policies and objectives as developed by the Board of Directors. Establishes individual donor objectives, ensuring that funding and income is secured in order to meet projected budget requirements.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

1. Oversees CSH’s fundraising programs and leads initiatives on annual fund, capital and planned giving campaigns:

  • Assumes key leadership and supervisory position in all individual fundraising programs.
  • Directly manages the Special Events Coordinator and Grant Manager
  • Develops, assists, and ensures execution of planned activities designed to result in fundraising success.
  • Researches, identifies, and meets with potential new funders, donors, corporate sponsors, and volunteers to cultivate positive relationships.
  • Meets with staff Directors to propose, design, and develop new programs, services, products, etc. that could be funded via new opportunities.
  • Administers appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that all gifts to CSH are in the best interest of the organization and are accurately recorded and promptly acknowledged.
  • 50% of time to be spent in external activities.

2. Provides staff leadership to all Board efforts related to Development, Planned Giving, Board Development, Marketing & Public Relations, and other Ad-Hoc Committees:

  • Directs the development of committee goals, objectives, and actions.
  • Ensures that committee actions are in line with the overall goals of CSH.
  • Focuses on major gift cultivation and relationship building, leading to financial support.

3. In conjunction with senior management:

  • Develops strategic direction, goals, objectives, budget, and performance measures of the department.
  • Determines, plans for, obtains, and expends resources necessary to successfully complete the objectives.
  • Reviews and analyzes operating policies, practices, and procedures dealing with fundraising.
  • Recommends and implements, within Board guidelines, changes and enhancements to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of fundraising to ensure that defined goals and objectives are accomplished.
  • Establishes written annual goals and objectives for the Development Department and provides a quarterly report of results to the President & CEO, Board, and Development Committee.

4. Cultivates relationships that will assist in providing funding and/or services that meet CSH’s goals and objectives:

  • Researches individuals, Board members, alumni, corporations, civic, and church groups, etc.
  • Schedules and attends meetings, social events, and speaking engagements to inform organizations regarding the mission of CSH and particularly the need and benefits of funding.
  • Oversees the recruitment and coordination of individual volunteers.

5. Reviews and researches trade literature, journals, magazines, webinars, videos and attends conferences and seminars within budget in order to develop new ideas, processes, practices, etc. that would increase and enhance CSH’s fundraising activities.

6. Is available beyond the regular office hours of the organization as may be required for special projects and community involvement.

7. Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO of Columbus Speech & Hearing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

·         A bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or its equivalent in experience is required.

·         3- 5 years fundraising, marketing, business development, and/or public relations experience is required.

·         Management experience preferred.

·         Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising, grant writing, media relations or similar is required.

·         An ability to effectively make recommendations and communicate with all levels of employees is required, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Knowledge of fundraising software such as Raiser’s Edge is preferred.

Assistant Director of Development

Reporting to: Director of Development and Marketing

Salary: Range of $55,000 – $65,000 plus generous vacation, health, and retirement package; hybrid work environment.

Founded in 2012 by Ronald “Jake” Clark, Save a Warrior (SAW) is a nonprofit organization that uses a novel, Integrated Intensive Intervention model to unpack, educate, and transform the lives of those suffering from Complex Post-Traumatic Stress who are at an elevated risk of suicide.  SAW operates in Hillsboro, Ohio from the S/Sgt. Dick Wood Warrior Village, home to the National Center of Excellence for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress. We need someone who understands the dynamics of raising funds for a fast-growing and fast-paced nonprofit, and approaches this work with creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit. The right person can work autonomously, take a sense of ownership in their work, and understands the value proposition of SAW in building collaborations and partnerships with donors, volunteers, and stakeholders. The Assistant Director of Development will act as the right hand to the Director of Development and Marketing.  As such, this position plays a key role in the continued success of SAW’s fundraising efforts by helping to set, achieve or exceed financial goals, ensuring positive interactions with team members, the Board of Directors, volunteers, patrons, donors, and the general public.

Primary Job Duties: Donor acquisition, conversion, and retention; execution of and refinement to the development strategy; prospect identification; grants management; event planning and execution; budget management; volunteer leadership; marketing and messaging.

Requirements:

Associate Director of Constituent Experiences Strategy

Position Overview

The Associate Director of Constituent Experiences Strategy develops and leads university-wide strategy for early engagement of alumni, grateful patients, grateful clients, students, employees, parents, and community members. Using data- and industry trend-informed decision making, this position will lead a team focused on the development and innovation of engagement and philanthropic initiatives to inspire a pipeline of loyal donors. This position’s team members (ten, including four direct reports) lead and direct the development of long-range and immediate plans for holistic audience engagement through experiences, unit and university-wide annual giving, and donor participation and retention. Responsibilities will include the continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of the university’s donor participation and engagement strategies, ensuring that both college/unit and university goals are met via innovative approaches, proper allocation of resources, and analysis of trends and results.

The Associate Director will work closely with the Events and Operations team as well as other advancement colleagues and campus partners to develop and support unit and university goals and ensure strategic alignment across the organization, making sure that activities are coordinated and tracked, emphasizing an audience-centric approach. The position is responsible for working with colleges and units to develop and execute annual giving strategies including The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center grateful patient annual donor audience. Key responsibilities include managing a $1M annual giving campaign budget and the strategy and partnerships for the university’s annual donors of more than $250K and nearly $50M. The position is directly responsible for securing more than 60K donors and nearly $8M through its teams’ work.

The Associate Director reports to the AVP of Constituent Experiences and is responsible for making recommendations and decisions with a high degree of independence, using strong decision-making capabilities, judgment, strategic thought, consistency, discretion, and financial management in accomplishing objectives. The position will hold fiscal responsibility to include establishing project budgets, meeting revenue goals, and managing expenditures. The position interacts often with key volunteers and advocates of the university. As a leader in the organization, the Associate Director facilitates developmental opportunities for staff members through coaching, education and by exhibiting leadership behaviors. This position must be adaptable to shifting priorities and demands, which may include the occasional work week travel as well as evening and weekend work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Advancement Consultants

Position Overview

Advancement Consultants for the College of Arts and Sciences (ASC) serve as a conduit of information and strategy between college leadership and fundraisers, stewardship, and engagement staff to advance the collaborative effort of moving gifts forward. Consultants maintain a current, deep knowledge of the strategic goals and funding priorities of the college and departments and partner closely with front-line fundraisers, donor relations officers and engagement officers, to align opportunities for support with donor goals.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Stewardship, these newly created positions are ultimate bridge-builders, ensuring that information flows seamlessly between academic and administrative partners and the development team. Each consultant is assigned to a division of the college in order to deepen relationships and best understand the work of their assigned area. This deep knowledge will be shared with major gift fundraisers to help create and present individualized, compelling proposals to prospective donors. Consultants also help steward donors following a gift, track and provide data and stories for impact/stewardship reports and play an integral role in engagements and experiences on campus.

Advancement Consultants assist fundraisers throughout the donor cycle with duties such as understanding and reporting on the donor pipeline; coordinating communication amongst the various partners; assisting with messaging, packaging, and creating engagement content; preparing proposals and stewarding donors following a gift. While they will not travel or carry their own portfolio, Consultants will have metrics based on overall team performance.

Natural collaborators grounded in strong verbal and written communication skills will do well in these roles. Strong listening skills with the ability to distill information and communicate it effectively to a diverse audience are a must. Advancement Consultants operate with a high degree of independence to make decisions, solve problems, and adapt to shifting priorities. These roles also require diplomacy and discretion along with a creative, strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, persistence, and an outcomes-oriented work style.  The Advancement Consultant roles offer flexible schedules including hybrid work as agreed upon with the Senior Director. The Arts and Sciences Advancement team currently works remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

30%     Fundraising

In collaboration with the divisional deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences, identifies growth priorities for the college, develops and confirms funding priorities; and assists in development of growth plans that will facilitate fundraising and donor engagement. Shares information with the development team and assists in determining alignment with potential donors. Advances a culture of philanthropy and awareness of the development team’s function through formal and informal engagement of college leadership, faculty and staff. Working closely with major gift officers, assists with identification, cultivation, solicitation, of fundraising prospects with capacity and inclination to make gifts. Assists with and manages the process of creation of donor materials, proposals, content to engage and inspire donors.

30%     Stewardship

As part of consistent communications with assigned departments, provides strategic stewardship support in the areas of funds management, gift acknowledgments, fund reporting and development officer travel needs. Monitors and reports on data, sharing monthly fund balance updates with a particular focus on student support funds, monthly gifts to department and any subsequent appreciation messaging. Provides fund spending content for stewardship reporting. Assists with stewardship events on an as needed basis and partners closely with donor experience and alumni relations colleagues. Provides prompt and effective solutions to donor relations issues when they arise.

30%     Engagement

Coordinates engagement of department and center-based volunteer committees in partnership with the college engagement team. Assists with development, planning and execution of targeted events geared toward cultivation of new and existing donors and prospects, as well as donor acquisition strategies. Works in partnership with development officers, engagement and marketing/communications staff to create briefings, talking points, remarks and background materials for advancement-focused events. Curates stories and needs for annual giving appeals in collaboration with ASC Advancement Annual Giving.

10%     Special Projects

Adjusts to changing priorities and completes special tasks and projects. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Objectives
During first 3 months

  • Get to know your colleagues and the college’s advancement priorities, structure and resources.
  • Build relationships with partners across advancement and in the college.
  • Begin to understand prospects, donors and volunteers in the assigned division.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 years of fundraising or sales or program coordination or related administrative function
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite and quickly assimilate to new technology

Development Director

Stuart’s Opera House is seeking a passionate and experienced fundraiser to join the staff
of the premier arts organization in Southeast Ohio! The Development Director position is
fundamental to the success and growth of Stuart’s Opera House and the Nelsonville
Music Festival and our role in leading the creative economy in our region. This position
will prioritize securing and growing major gifts for one of the most successful nonprofit

This position reports directly to the Executive Director, works closely with the Artistic
Director, and supervises the Development Associate. This position is based at Stuart’s

The Development Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all development and fundraising at Stuart’s Opera House. This position is charged with prioritizing and securing new and significant annual gifts to grow and sustain a dynamic and successful nonprofit arts organization in Southeast Ohio. Additionally, this position will develop and implement a fundraising plan, grow membership and donors, oversee successful NMF sponsorship program, and supervise the Development Associate. Assistant/Associate Director of Prospect Development

Donor Relations Manager

– In collaboration with the AVP, Development, executes an annual fundraising plan and creates strategies to meet revenue goals and explores new and growing areas of support
– Participates in the collaborative effort of researching individuals, corporations, and foundations identified by the – President & CEO, AVP, Development and other leadership staff and volunteers as potential sources of funding. This research will include personal interactions and application of professional best practices.

– Maintains relationships with external stakeholders to regularly brief them on relevant events impacting CUL.
– Establish and manage information tracking processes to capture acknowledgement letters, recognition, on-going communications to steward the donors and to enhance their relationship
– Manage mid-level donors to ensure proper stewardship and one-on-one communication. Implement our stewardship strategy for individual donors, as well as our strategies for growing recurring donor programs.
– Develop revenue projections and provide financial analysis
– Administer a volunteer program to expand giving at all participation levels. Plan, coordinate, supervise and implement the various volunteer activities to reach fundraising goals and objectives
– Accelerate and improve volunteer experience excellence
– Create and maintain volunteer fundraising training manuals and materials in collaboration with other Annual Fund staff.
– Develop metrics to set and manage engagement goals for donors and volunteers; prepare and monitor reports on the progress of stakeholder activities and determine whether to alter strategy based on results
– Maintain a high level of attention to detail as it relates to managing solicitation reports, gift tracking and acknowledgement, the creation of written solicitation strategies
– Oversee the updating of databases to monitor, discern and track the appropriate activities with various populations — such as donors, prospects, and volunteers.
– Suggest ways to reinvigorate existing Peer-to-Peer and manage Peer-to-Peer programs.
– Manages and analyses the fundraising reports, contact and giving history as it pertains to ongoing strategic projections.

What you’ll do

You’re no stranger to managing schedules, timelines and workflows for a campaign and planning and executing events. You will oversee and monitor the campaign and budget while helping develop campaign materials and initiatives. You’ll research, screen and maintain a list of prospective donors and create philanthropic profiles for prospects for leadership and major gifts. We will look to you to serve as an external spokesperson for the Foundation’s mission and goals with a focus on the company’s centennial and Centennial Campaign.

 

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three years experience coordinating and managing complex projects required.
  • Experience in development or campaign experience strongly preferred

What you’ll do

You’re no stranger to developing a portfolio of prospective major and planned giving donors and developing short and long-range plans to ensure fundraising expectations are met, then leading your team to do the same. What it takes

  • Five years experience supervising major gift officers required
  • Ten years experience in fundraising program management preferred

The ACLU of Ohio fights daily to protect and expand the constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties, civil rights, and racial and social justice for every person in this country. But without our generous donors and contributors, our fight would fail. Our dynamic Development Team attends to our amazing network of thousands of donors and the Development Operations Associate is the backbone of support for this high-functioning fundraising operation. The Development Operations Associate tracks, analyzes, and synthesizes all of the donor information our fundraising team needs to ensure the ACLU of Ohio is effectively using every resource graciously given to us in our continuing effort to protect and defend democracy.
